Proposition 65

Safe Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 – Warnings Required

WARNING: This Dive Right In Scuba product can expose you to cretin chemicals which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

We appreciate your decision to purchase Dive Right In Scuba products to provide the best in water experience. We take our job seriously! You may have noticed that our products now show a warning label at point of sale referring to carcinogens and birth defects. You may also have begun to see warnings related to carcinogenic substances or substances causing birth defects prominently displayed in hotel lobbies, hospitals, or other places of business recently. These warnings are required by the State of California, and we believe that an explanation of the California statute legislating the requirement will provide you valuable information regarding the relative risks of the chemicals that may be present in consumer products.

In 1986, the State of California passed the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act; otherwise known as “Proposition 65” or "Prop 65". Prop 65 requires businesses like ours to disclose to individuals the presence of chemicals listed in the Act prior to point of sale. The regulations implementing this Act have been amended over time with the most recent updates will take effect on August 30, 2018. There are more than 900 chemicals on the Prop 65 Chemical List, including many chemicals that are found in components of a wide array of consumer goods or are used to manufacture components that make up consumer goods.

Prop 65 does not establish acceptable concentrations for any listed chemical; however, the agency which enforces it has established what is called "safe harbor" exposure levels for about one third of these chemicals below which warnings are not required. These "safe harbor" are established for listed carcinogens based on the quantity of the chemical that would result in one excess case of cancer in an exposed population of 100,000, assuming lifetime (70-year) exposure at the level in question. A similar process is used to establish safe harbor levels for listed reproductive toxicants. Additional information in plain language on safe harbor levels is available from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment at http://oehha.ca.gov/Prop65/background/p65plain.html

At Dive Right In Scuba, the safety of your in water experience is our highest priority. We go to great effort to select materials that offer superior value, quality, and durability while also being generally recognized as safe and reliable for the full life of the product. Dive Right In Scuba also works closely with many regulatory bodies, such as the US Coast Guard and Underwriter’s Laboratories, to ensure the longevity of your on-water safety through targeted selection of durable, long lasting materials and components that undergo significant validation testing before being used to manufacture end items. Sometimes the safety promise we offer appears at odds with the health and safety requirements of other legislation in certain parts of the world when some regulations are updated ahead of others. To ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, Dive Right In Scuba has placed a warning on products that contain a Prop 65 listed chemical, either directly or as a part of the raw material supply chain. This allows us to comply with California law and provide our California consumers with the disclosure required by Prop 65, while still promising the safest on water experience possible.

Dive Right In Scuba is working diligently with regulatory bodies and our own manufacturing partners to continue to improve our product performance and reduce the presence of less desirable chemicals. Water is a precious resource we all share that is important to the health and well-being of our planet and all people. Our goal is to continue to enhance your water life experience while reducing our overall impact to the planet and, in particular, its waterways. While it is a bit of a juggling act to achieve, we are confident you will see continued improvement in both the immediate and long term future. We hope this explanation will enable you to understand why you will be seeing warnings on some our products.

Thank you for your continued use of Dive Right In Scuba products.

  1. great dive mat review by Mark on 6/15/2018
    Overall Rating

It's the perfect size. I use it to get In and out of my Drysuit. It drains well. I used to just lay down a tarp but I would always end up standing in a puddle. This keeps the dirt and sand off my stuff when donning and the water off my feet when doffing. I also like how it folds into itself with carry straps. Plus most importantly it looks cool with the giant dris diver on it.

  2. Great Mat review by Steve on 6/6/2017
    Overall Rating

I didn't realize how beneficial it could be to have a simple mat when gearing up. I use this mat when gearing up and it allows me to be in my drysuit booties and not worry about puncturing any holes or anything into my expensive suit. Also, helps keep everything off the dirt when getting ready. The most pleasant surprise was how fast the material dries. It literally almost dries immediately when rinsed off. Easy to roll up and stash away for its next use! Great product!

  3. Great Mat review by Andrew on 8/3/2016
    Overall Rating

I ordered this as a replacement to one I left at local dive site and never found again. Just expected a similar mat. But it comes in a nice Square package that fits nicely into my dive bag vs the large roll of the other comparable mats. Works great and keeps dry suit socks clean.

  4. great item review by andrew on 7/12/2016
    Overall Rating

bought several of these to use at a local quarry where gear can get dirty when changing. Absolutely loved them, able to keep everything clean and off the ground and they fold up quite nicely to be packed away and not take up a lot of room since storage can be limited.

  5. awesome review by andrew on 6/18/2016
    Overall Rating

Used these while diving at a local quarry that was full of dirt and sand. Others around me where getting covered while trying to put on/remove their suits while mine were staying clean because of these mats. Would highly recommend them for keeping your gear clean.

  6. Buy 2! review by Travis on 6/15/2016
    Overall Rating

Love these dive mats. Wish we would've had them on our dive trip to Florida when we were gearing up from our SUV. Saw another diver with one and decided we needed one.

They're big, fold up and durable. What's not to like?

Didn't realize it until I added to cart, but you get a discount the more you order, so I ordered one for me and one for my wife.

They also make great mats for changing kids when you take them to the beach or camping.

  7. Good for keeping your clean review by Matt on 12/19/2015
    Overall Rating

I use this at the springs in FL, most of which have dirt parking lots and are covered with leaves. The mat keeps me clean while donning and doffing my suit. Showing no signs of wear so far. I like that water drains through it.

  8. Nice Mat review by James on 12/18/2015
    Overall Rating

Nice mat, I got this for free with a big order but I use it every time I dive now. Would now know to buy one if I didn't already have it.

  9. Great for Dressing Out review by Russell on 8/25/2015
    Overall Rating

Keeping sand, dirt, rocks and mud at bay while your getting dressed out is extremely nice, even more so when getting into a drysuit, the only issue I've had, is that too many of my dive buddies are encroaching on my mat, so I had to get an extra just for me. Of all the designs out there the DRIS is definitely the coolest looking as well. Cleans off with a hose, excellent piece of gear.

  10. Nice dive site addition review by David on 4/24/2014
    Overall Rating

I added this to my recent drysuit order and found it to be a nice thing to keep things clean at the divesites. Lots of leaves and dirt around, and it's good to keep that stuff off the gear! The only thing I might suggest is to make it waterproof from the bottom, so when you put it down on wet ground it keeps your feet dry.

Received this for free with my drysuit order. Used it on a dirt/rock beach at a reservoir and I stayed clean while kitting up. Easier to use than a tarp and more compact.

  13. review by Dr J Keith Partlo on 11/18/2013
    Overall Rating

Good product Keeps you clean when gearing up.Sheds water and easy to clean . Only drawback is that when placed on wet ground water will penetrate mat and get your feet wet . Not a good thing if you are a drysuit diver trying to keep your socks dry.

  14. review by Chris Buck on 9/9/2013
    Overall Rating

This dive mat is a woven plastic. It does a good job of letting water drain through, though I did have a couple small puddles of water form. Cleaning just requires a quick rinse and setting it out to dry. I definitely prefer using this mat to the old tarps I've used before. The only downside so far is that it takes up more space than a tarp when rolled up.

The size is just about right for a single cold water diver diving wet, though I'd want a slightly larger mat or a second one to use when diving dry (I do plan on getting a second one for this reason). Also, the size allows you set down or retrieve gear from the mat without having to step onto it, which really helps to keep the mat and equipment clean.

  15. review by Iza Ding on 9/5/2013
    Overall Rating

the mat keeps sand and dirt off my gears. i put on my gears on the mat and take them off on the mat. it also prevents damages to gears like scratches of mask by the ground. it rolls up like a yoga mat and is easy to transport.

  16. review by Robert Johnson on 8/20/2013
    Overall Rating

Perfect product! Just the right size. Rolls up easily and secured with Velcro. Washes with a hose and dries quickly for next time. Arrived fast as usual.

  17. review by Patrick thrift on 7/15/2013
    Overall Rating

Its a simple plastic mat. Roll it out, change on it instead of rocks sticks and debris at your local quarry. Dunk it in the water when you're done for easy clean up.
Generous size assures you're not struggling to stay off the ground. Has a velcro strap to secure it rolled up when not in use.

  18. review by Dan Kelly on 6/29/2013
    Overall Rating

I love these mats. I am typically a dry diver so they are nice at dive sites with soil or sandy changing areas. I just set my folding chair at the edge of the mat and pull on my suit without working about dragging the seals through the muck. I'm considering buying another and making my suit up/equipment area even larger. :)

  19. review by Jeremy Soeken on 5/25/2013

This is great for allowing me a place to get my gear off when I am in parking lots or sandy areas I am teaching at.

  20. review by Zach Rogers on 4/11/2013

Awesome matt that was included for free with my order. Its plenty big enough to put all of my gear on and not get it muddy/sandy. As always, great customer service and quick shipping from DRIS.

Perfect dive mat to keep all of your gear clean and off of the ground before and after the dive. dries quickly and rolls up nice. the best part was that it was free with my order, thanks DRIS!

This is a great Mat! Well worth the price! I like that it is a plastic product that is easy to clean and roll away.

  23. review by Jesper Sallander on 3/23/2013

Great mat for setting up your gear. I received one as a freebie with my regulator sets, and I have that permanently installed in our dive locker, and I liked it so much I bought another for the road!

  24. review by stephen smith on 3/12/2013
    Overall Rating

I purchased this to use at the local quarries which tend to get muddy throughout the year. I love it! Keeps gear and clothes clean and rolls up nicely for storage. Quality is good and I haven't had any issues. If you are looking for a dive mat this is a good one.

  25. review by Matias Labrin on 2/24/2013
    Overall Rating

I got this fantastic mat for free when I purchased my rig on DRIS. It's just great! it's wide and long enough for rigging up anywhere, as you and your gear doesn't get dirty (even 2 persons could use it at the same time), then it quite easy to roll it up and keep it on your car trunk :) Every time I do a shore dive, I pull out my mat and everybody stares at it! My buddies were so jealous that they order another for their selves. Another great deal from DRIS!

  26. review by Keith Stancil on 12/9/2012
    Overall Rating

The mat is very light weight, easy to clean, and transport. Worked great especially when you do not want to stand on or lay your gear on the dirt, sand, or the floor wherever you are. A must have item.

  27. review by charles quenneville on 11/26/2012
    Overall Rating

Must have for any shore diver. The thickness protects well from rocks and pebbles, even from mud. It is easy to rinse, roll up and you`re set to go. Protect your suit with one of these. Mine came with a seam in it which is quite visible but, well, got it as a freebie...

  28. review by Douglas Boyce on 11/15/2012
    Overall Rating

Basically it's a plastic rug. But it's big enough to keep my suit and equipment clean when donning gear in rustic conditions. DRIS gives it to you as freebee if you have a large dollar order.

  29. review by Timothy Crane on 11/13/2012
    Overall Rating

Added this dive mat on to my order when it came up as a suggeted addition to one of my other purchases, and am very glad I did. I used to lug along a poly tarp to allow a changing place and avoid getting sand and dirt into my gear, but this will definitely replace it. The thickness of the mat works to better insolate the bare feet from any sharp rocks underneath, and te mat folds up into a nice tight package for carrying.

  30. review by Bryan Aho on 11/12/2012
    Overall Rating

This lightweight mat is a simple solution to what can become an expensive problem.

After a day of diving, one must invariably change out of their drysuit and into their clothes. Simple problem, except for the fact that a wet drysuit will accumulate a coating of whatever it touches on the ground when you remove it. This sand, grass, or mud can accumulate in the zipper and cake in any wax zipper lube and make cleaning your gear a real chore.

This lightweight mat solves that problem. Made out of woven, non absorbent plastic, this mat forms a barrier between your suit and the ground letting you change without coating your wet drysuit like a Chick-O-Stick. When you are all done, shake it downwind and roll it up for next time.

  31. review by Brandon Burgert on 7/14/2012

Very well constructed mat and it travels even better!

  32. review by Corey Finnell on 6/3/2012
    Overall Rating

Great dive mat. Simple and gets the job done. Much bigger than I expected it to be but that's definitely a good thing. Plenty of room for all of my gear and even my buddy's if need be. This will be coming with me on all of my beach dives without a doubt.

  33. review by Rob Waring on 4/23/2012
    Overall Rating

Used this dive mat for the first time last weekend while shore diving and have to say that it’s awesome! Large enough to keep all your gear on while getting suited up yet small enough to pack up into a thin roll. It’s also much stiffer then a beach towel which just folds around your feet in the sand. It’s really nice not having sand in and on everything. Very happy with this item!

    • If it is within 60 days and the items are used, or are not returned with the original packaging, it's not a problem, we will provide you with Loyalty Points for 75% of your products purchase price, that can be used to purchase any other product we sell at Dive Right In Scuba*. * This can be changed at our discretion based on how used or damaged a product is*
    • If it is between 60 - 120 days and the items are in new condition, we will provide you with Loyalty Points for 100% of your products purchase price, that can be used to purchase any product we sell at Dive Right In Scuba
    • You never need to contact us for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) –Simply return your product to us with the RMA Form, To ensure that your return/exchange is handled in a speedy manner, always include a copy of your receipt. We do recommend calling with any issues to see what the best course of action is, its not always to just send back….so just give us a call and lets figure out the best response!
    • If you have bought an item and it needs to be returned, your original shipping charges are non refundable.
    • Shipping charges are NOT refundable.  If you received Free Shipping on your order, and return it, the charges for the shipping will come out of your refund.  Shipping is inlcuded if you keep the product, a return voids the free shipping.
  • * Certain Items may incure a 10% re-stocking fee(can be higher dependings on custom options or special order).  High dollar items may have a re-stocking fee which covers transaction and shipping charges.  If it is an exchange, there might not re-stocking fee depending on the situation.  We are people too, so we try to make sure it works for everyone depending on what is going on.
  • * Custom items do not qualify for a full refund.  If an item doesn't fit, we will do everything to make sure you get a proper fit.  But, on custom items, there can't always be a 100% refund, due to the custom nature of the item.

To return an item, just follow the simple directions below and we’ll take care of the rest!

    1. Pack the item(s) securely. All returned products should be in the condition they were received in, as well as in their original packaging. Please remember to include all warranty cards and manuals.
    2. Please include the RMA Form with a copy of your receipt.
    3. Send your package via UPS, FedEx or insured Parcel Post. (Please note that shipping charges cannot be refunded.) We recommend shipping ALL products back with an Insured Carrier with tracking numbers. This is the only way to track the product to ensure we receive it. Dive Right In Scuba is not responsible for lost or stolen packages due to Shipping Carriers.
