About PADI Career Development Course (CDC)- by PADI SKU: CDC

Are you ready to join the ranks of the dedicated professionals who teach the world’s most progressive and popular scuba diver education programs? We're glad you have chosen us to take your Career Development course with. We have been in the business of training professionals since 1975 and our expert course directors love what they do and want to see you succeed. It is for this reason we have designed a development course for you. Come learn to dive as a professional from our passionate and expert staff.

The CDC will take you from Advanced Open Water all the way to Instructor Scuba Diver.

The Advanced Open Water course entails:

You try out different specialties while gaining experience under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. You log dives and develop capabilities as you find new ways to have fun scuba diving. Get credit! Each Adventure Dive may credit toward the first dive of the corresponding PADI Specialty Diver Course. You’ll plan your learning path with your instructor by choosing from a long list of Adventure Dives. There are two required dives – Deep and Underwater Navigation – and you choose the other three, for a total of five dives.

During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks, and time. The other knowledge and skills you get vary with your interest and the adventures you have – photography, buoyancy control, fish identification, exploring wrecks, and many more.

The Rescue Diver course entails:

You learn to prevent and manage problems in the water and become more confident in your skills as a diver, knowing that you can help others if needed. During the course, you learn to become a better buddy by practicing problem-solving skills until they become second nature. Plus, the course is just fun – it’s serious, but still allows for lots of laughter in between the focused learning. You also need to have Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months. You can complete this training during the Rescue Diver course. Your instructor may also offer the PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider specialty diver course at the same time. The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills. Topics include:

Self-rescue

Recognizing and managing stress in other divers

Emergency management and equipment

Rescuing panicked divers

Rescuing unresponsive divers

EFR Primary and Secondary Care entail:

Discover simple-to-follow steps for emergency care. This course focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency.

Emergency First Response training focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency. Course participants learn simple-to-follow steps for emergency care and practice applying skills in a nonstressful learning environment. All courses are supported by self-study manuals, videos, and quick reference cards to enhance learning and allow you to start learning right away.

EFR courses meet the CPR and first aid training requirements for the PADI Rescue Diver course and all professional-level ratings. Most PADI Instructors are also Emergency First Response Instructors.

The following EFR courses are based on internationally recognized medical guidelines for emergency care.

Primary Care (CPR) – This course teaches you the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening emergencies. You’ll practice eight skills for aiding patients who aren’t breathing, have any heartbeat, may have a spinal injury, maybe in shock, or may have serious bleeding. You’ll learn how to perform CPR and continue to monitor the patient so that you provide every possible chance of survival while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.

Secondary Care (First Aid) – Because many medical conditions are not life-threatening and emergency medical services are sometimes delayed or unavailable, this course teaches you how to provide first aid that eases pain and reduces the risk of further harm. You’ll learn to assess a variety of injuries and illnesses and practice bandaging and splinting.

The Dive Master Course entails:

Dive Right In Scuba creates some of the best DMs and why wouldn't we as we want them to work for us? We don't just make as many as we can to pump out students like other shops. We create the Divemasters that Instructors worldwide respect and know are the quality they are looking for. Whether you want to DM here with Dive Right In Scuba, or with another shop in Cozumel, we will get you prepared for your future in diving! You are in great hands! Your adventure into the professional levels of recreational scuba diving begins with the PADI Divemaster program. Working closely with a PADI Instructor, in this program, you expand your dive knowledge and hone your skills to the professional level. PADI Divemaster training develops your leadership abilities, qualifying you to supervise dive activities and assist instructors with student divers. PADI Divemaster is the prerequisite certification for both the PADI Assistant Instructor and PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor certifications.

Prerequisites:

18 years old

- A PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)

- A PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certification from another training organization)

- An Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (or qualifying first aid and CPR training from another organization) course completion within the past 24 months.

- Have at least 40 dives to begin the course and 60 for certification

- Be fit for diving and submit a Medical Statement (PDF) signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

- PADI DM Crew pack, Current Log Book

Emergency First Response Instructor entails:

Teach skills based on internationally recognized emergency care guidelines and learn how to present course content while encouraging student self-discovery.

Description

CPR and first aid are key skills that are important to everyone, not just scuba divers. As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you teach skills based on internationally recognized emergency care guidelines, and you can offer courses to anyone. The great thing about EFR courses is they make learning easy by providing a comfortable environment to practice emergency care skills. Your students finish the course feeling confident with their new skills and ready to help someone in need.

The only requirements are that you’re at least 18 years old and have Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months. An EFR Instructor rating is required to become a PADI Instructor, but you don’t have to wait until you’re ready to go pro. You can complete or refresh this training during your PADI Instructor training.

Academic

Your role as an EFR Instructor is to be a coach that creates a positive learning environment. Along with learning how to structure and organize EFR courses, you practice:

Presenting course content.

Encouraging self-discovery in students.

Evaluating student understanding and skill mastery during hands-on skills practice.

Managing effective scenario-based learning experiences.

You may be able to get college credit for the Emergency First Response Instructor course.

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) entails:

Are you ready to join the ranks of the dedicated professionals who teach the world’s most progressive and popular scuba diver education programs? Then Go PRO with an Instructor Development Course.

The PADI IDC is a very intensive course which prepares you for the Instructor Examination (IE) and real world teaching. It covers aspects beyond the IE that will assist you in becoming a knowledgeable practicing professional.

We have been in the business of training professionals since 1975 and our expert course directors love what they do and want to see you succeed. It is this reason we have designed a prep course for you. If you have not been involved in public speaking, dive theory or just think you may be a little rusty, then this is the course for you!

Your prep course can be taken any time; we do recommend taking this course two days before your Instructor Development Course begins. Our Instructor Development Course prep program is two days long and will cover presentations on dive theory, Standards and Procedures. We will also put you through a skill review and be sure your skills will allow you to shine in your instructor exam. Your prep will include academic presentation preparation as well making the transition into your Instructor Development Course smooth.

Over eight days, the IDC teaches you to conduct all PADI core courses. You’ll be able to organize and present information, conduct skill development sessions and control open water dives. Basically, you become a better public speaker and get really good at demonstrating skills while watching out for student diver safety. Key topics include:

PADI Standards and Procedures for courses you can teach with in water workshops

Learning, Instruction and the PADI System

Risk Management and Diver Safety

The Business of Diving and your role as an instructor

Dive Right In Scuba knows that our customers value many things, including friendly, professionally trained staff, terrific service and great savings on scuba equipment.  Our Scuba Dive Shop in Illinois thrives on being the best in the Scuba Industry and offering our Scuba and Snorkeling customers the best pricing not only in Illinois, but in the world.  We try hard to keep our prices as low as possible while also offering the best service.  If you see a competitor with a lower price, take advantage of our Low Price Guarantee!  Under the BUY NOW button on every product, you will see a Pricematch form.  Just fill it out, and save some cash!  But we don't stop there. If, within 60 days of your purchase from Dive Right In Scuba, you find the same item advertised by DRIS or another authorized SCUBA dealer for less, show us the ad and we'll give you 100% of the difference as a credit towards your next purchase of scuba diving equipment!  Whether you live in Joliet, Naperville, Chicago, Indiana, or Australia, we will give you the same great service as if you were standing in our store!

100% Price Protection does not apply to special order products (ie: Products that do not appear on our website)

How does it work?
Well, once we are able to verify the competitors lower price, we will approve the pricematch.  This will send you an email, and the price will automatically change for you to purchase at the new low price. For instance, if we are selling a product for $200 and you find it elsewhere for $180, your price with Dive Right In Scuba will be $180. To take advantage of this promotion and give us a call at 815-267-8400 or use our Price Match form on every product page.

* Be sure that your Pricematch is in your favor as sometimes our Loyalty Points is the better deal vs. a lower upfront price from a competitor.  Pricematches can not be combined with any other sales or promos.  Dive Right In Scuba has the right to decline any pricematch or make a counteroffer.  We typically do NOT pricematch bidding sites like eBay, but you can submit them and maybe we can make it happen!  Pricematching on discontinued items is allowed.

Dive Right In Scuba Price Match Policy is in good spirit and a way for us to communicate with our customers and always make sure they are getting the best deal.  There is never any intention to fool or trick anyone with our policies.  If you feel this policy is inadequate in your situation, please call us at 815-267-8400.

With the whole world now being within a keyboards reach, Dive Right In Scuba will still offer the best Pricing and Service in the Midwest, but we are taking  that and making it available globally!!  If you're able to find another Authorized dealer with a  lower price, we will match and beat it with our above Low Price Guarantee!  So your looking at making a purchase from an Unauthorized, gray market retailer?  Don’t do it!  DRIS will also match those dealers price and you will save money AND get a full manufacturers warranty!  Please allow 24 hours to confirm that the retailer has it in stock.  Whether it’s a local Shop in Aurora, Oswego, Yorkville, Tennessee, or Texas, we will go the extra distance to ensure you get the best pricing with the best service and warranties!

We also have some of the best shipping times in the world! Being centrally located in the US gives us prime placement. Most orders are to your door, with Standard Freight, in under 10 days!! With most other retailers you have to pay extra shipping costs to get it there that fast.

Dive Right In Scuba’s Free Shipping will apply to standard ground shipping anywhere in the World on orders totaling $1000 or more (excludes rebreathers, tanks, compressors, and weights). Sale items also do not qualify for free shipping. If you work out a special price with Dive Right In Scuba in a quote or email, Free Shipping does NOT qualify.   Super Saver International is offered for FREE on most orders that total over US $1000 that are outside the US. The only problem is this shipping method does not provide realtime tracking information. The delivery time is typically 3 weeks or less, and can take longer to some of the more remote locations. Your items will ship insured and you may pay some import duties and taxes based on your Local Government. Lost packages can only be replaced after USPS has issued payment for the lost items.
US Postal Service Priority Mail International shipping offers you a low-cost and fast delivery option. Not counting time for the package to clear customs, it is about 2 weeks depending on your location. This option does not provide you with realtime tracking information.
US Postal Service Express Mail International is a very cost-effective choice for even faster delivery of your dive gear. This option typically takes about 1 week without counting customs clearing. As with the other USPS, there is no realtime tracking on your purchase. This is available in almost 200 countries around the globe.
UPS Worldwide Expedited International offers you a fast delivery option to more than 60 countries with rapid in-house customs clearance. Typical delivery times is 1 week to your address. UPS.com will automatically e-mail you the realtime tracking number when your order ships from Dive Right In Scuba. Our shopping cart will not offer you the UPS Worldwide Expedited shipping choice if that service is not available in your country.
UPS Worldwide Saver International is the absolute fastest delivery method to any country in about 3 business days or less. You will also receive rapid in-house customs clearance when saving time is the utmost concern for receiving your package. UPS.com automatically e-mails you the realtime tracking number when your order ships from Dive Right In Scuba. Some addresses may require additional time for in-country transit due to the remote location of that address. For service availability and exact delivery time commitments visit the UPS.com website for information about your address or contact us for a more accurate quote.

*Your items will ship insured and you may pay some import duties and taxes based on your Local Government. Lost packages can only be replaced after USPS or UPS has issued payment for the lost items. This is why we recommend shipping with UPS for tracking purposes and faster repayment. We have not lost any packages to date, but things can happen.

  • * Custom items do not qualify for a full refund.  If an item doesn't fit, we will do everything to make sure you get a proper fit.  But, on custom items, there can't always be a 100% refund, due to the custom nature of the item.

Proposition 65

Safe Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 – Warnings Required

WARNING: This Dive Right In Scuba product can expose you to certain chemicals which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

We appreciate your decision to purchase Dive Right In Scuba products to provide the best in water experience. We take our job seriously! You may have noticed that our products now show a warning label at point of sale referring to carcinogens and birth defects. You may also have begun to see warnings related to carcinogenic substances or substances causing birth defects prominently displayed in hotel lobbies, hospitals, or other places of business recently. These warnings are required by the State of California, and we believe that an explanation of the California statute legislating the requirement will provide you valuable information regarding the relative risks of the chemicals that may be present in consumer products.

In 1986, the State of California passed the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act; otherwise known as “Proposition 65” or "Prop 65". Prop 65 requires businesses like ours to disclose to individuals the presence of chemicals listed in the Act prior to point of sale. The regulations implementing this Act have been amended over time with the most recent updates will take effect on August 30, 2018. There are more than 900 chemicals on the Prop 65 Chemical List, including many chemicals that are found in components of a wide array of consumer goods or are used to manufacture components that make up consumer goods.

Prop 65 does not establish acceptable concentrations for any listed chemical; however, the agency which enforces it has established what is called "safe harbor" exposure levels for about one third of these chemicals below which warnings are not required. These "safe harbor" are established for listed carcinogens based on the quantity of the chemical that would result in one excess case of cancer in an exposed population of 100,000, assuming lifetime (70-year) exposure at the level in question. A similar process is used to establish safe harbor levels for listed reproductive toxicants. Additional information in plain language on safe harbor levels is available from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment at http://oehha.ca.gov/Prop65/background/p65plain.html

At Dive Right In Scuba, the safety of your in water experience is our highest priority. We go to great effort to select materials that offer superior value, quality, and durability while also being generally recognized as safe and reliable for the full life of the product. Dive Right In Scuba also works closely with many regulatory bodies, such as the US Coast Guard and Underwriter’s Laboratories, to ensure the longevity of your on-water safety through targeted selection of durable, long lasting materials and components that undergo significant validation testing before being used to manufacture end items. Sometimes the safety promise we offer appears at odds with the health and safety requirements of other legislation in certain parts of the world when some regulations are updated ahead of others. To ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, Dive Right In Scuba has placed a warning on products that contain a Prop 65 listed chemical, either directly or as a part of the raw material supply chain. This allows us to comply with California law and provide our California consumers with the disclosure required by Prop 65, while still promising the safest on water experience possible.

Dive Right In Scuba is working diligently with regulatory bodies and our own manufacturing partners to continue to improve our product performance and reduce the presence of less desirable chemicals. Water is a precious resource we all share that is important to the health and well-being of our planet and all people. Our goal is to continue to enhance your water life experience while reducing our overall impact to the planet and, in particular, its waterways. While it is a bit of a juggling act to achieve, we are confident you will see continued improvement in both the immediate and long term future. We hope this explanation will enable you to understand why you will be seeing warnings on some our products.

Thank you for your continued use of Dive Right In Scuba products.
