About 5mm Semi Dry Gloves - by Fourth Element SKU: GLO5

The secret to a great dive can be as simple as having warm hands and the dexterity to be able to use your camera or feel your valves for a shutdown. Fourth Elements wet gloves use stretch neoprene with glued, stitched and welded seams to give a close fit that almost eliminates the entry of water, whilst maximising flexibility and warmth. The carbonite print on the outside of glove provides good grip and improved durability.

Both the 3mm gloves and the 5mm Gloves provide amazing warmth during a dive. The 3mm gloves give outstanding dexterity – ideal for photography and videography. Features include: stretch neoprene for fit and comfort, and a Thermoflex lining for warmth, sealed seams minimise water ingress, easy donning minimalist design, and a carbonite finish for grip and durability.

Proposition 65

Safe Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 – Warnings Required

WARNING: This Dive Right In Scuba product can expose you to cretin chemicals which are known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov

We appreciate your decision to purchase Dive Right In Scuba products to provide the best in water experience. We take our job seriously! You may have noticed that our products now show a warning label at point of sale referring to carcinogens and birth defects. You may also have begun to see warnings related to carcinogenic substances or substances causing birth defects prominently displayed in hotel lobbies, hospitals, or other places of business recently. These warnings are required by the State of California, and we believe that an explanation of the California statute legislating the requirement will provide you valuable information regarding the relative risks of the chemicals that may be present in consumer products.

In 1986, the State of California passed the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act; otherwise known as “Proposition 65” or "Prop 65". Prop 65 requires businesses like ours to disclose to individuals the presence of chemicals listed in the Act prior to point of sale. The regulations implementing this Act have been amended over time with the most recent updates will take effect on August 30, 2018. There are more than 900 chemicals on the Prop 65 Chemical List, including many chemicals that are found in components of a wide array of consumer goods or are used to manufacture components that make up consumer goods.

Prop 65 does not establish acceptable concentrations for any listed chemical; however, the agency which enforces it has established what is called "safe harbor" exposure levels for about one third of these chemicals below which warnings are not required. These "safe harbor" are established for listed carcinogens based on the quantity of the chemical that would result in one excess case of cancer in an exposed population of 100,000, assuming lifetime (70-year) exposure at the level in question. A similar process is used to establish safe harbor levels for listed reproductive toxicants. Additional information in plain language on safe harbor levels is available from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment at http://oehha.ca.gov/Prop65/background/p65plain.html

At Dive Right In Scuba, the safety of your in water experience is our highest priority. We go to great effort to select materials that offer superior value, quality, and durability while also being generally recognized as safe and reliable for the full life of the product. Dive Right In Scuba also works closely with many regulatory bodies, such as the US Coast Guard and Underwriter’s Laboratories, to ensure the longevity of your on-water safety through targeted selection of durable, long lasting materials and components that undergo significant validation testing before being used to manufacture end items. Sometimes the safety promise we offer appears at odds with the health and safety requirements of other legislation in certain parts of the world when some regulations are updated ahead of others. To ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements, Dive Right In Scuba has placed a warning on products that contain a Prop 65 listed chemical, either directly or as a part of the raw material supply chain. This allows us to comply with California law and provide our California consumers with the disclosure required by Prop 65, while still promising the safest on water experience possible.

Dive Right In Scuba is working diligently with regulatory bodies and our own manufacturing partners to continue to improve our product performance and reduce the presence of less desirable chemicals. Water is a precious resource we all share that is important to the health and well-being of our planet and all people. Our goal is to continue to enhance your water life experience while reducing our overall impact to the planet and, in particular, its waterways. While it is a bit of a juggling act to achieve, we are confident you will see continued improvement in both the immediate and long term future. We hope this explanation will enable you to understand why you will be seeing warnings on some our products.

Thank you for your continued use of Dive Right In Scuba products.

    Overall Rating

Construction is excellent but.... In medical gloves ! wear the 7 1/2 or size large. I ordered XL in this glove. I can barely get one on then struggle to get the other one on. Fingers were a little long also. I'll return and try the 2XL.

  2. Great Glove but VERY hard to get off review by Garrett on 5/10/2016
    Overall Rating

Had these gloves for about a year now and aren't showing much wear at all which is nice. When i had neoprene wrist seals they were pretty worthless but now that i'm running latex they are awesome. Not dry by any means but warm enough for most of my 45+ diving. My one gripe with these is how ridiculously hard they are to get off! I understand the tight fit and no zipper/velcro/anything but at least give us a small "leash" of some kind to grab onto somewhere to help pull them off, working from the cuff makes them difficult. Despite that, i'm always with a buddy so help is always close if i just can't get them off so not really all that big a deal.

The gloves are very warm for their thickness. It doesn't impair your movements or grip with your fingers which is a real plus.

  4. More dexterity than normal 5mm gloves review by Eric on 3/27/2016

These gloves are nice and thick, but provide better dexterity than gloves that are the same thickness. It is semi-dry so they feel warmer than other 5mm gloves too.

  5. Great buy review by Bernard on 12/29/2015

Dexterity and warmth. I spent 4 hours in 40 degree water working and my hands never got cold. I will make sure to always have a pair off these gloves in my dive bag. Worth every penny.

  7. Second Pair review by Zach on 2/14/2015
    Overall Rating

This is my second pair of these gloves (I lost one glove), they are great and don't restrict movement too much and still keep my hands warm in 45 degree water. They are a little tight the first few times worn but they do stretch over time.

  8. Good quality glove, just didn't fit review by Sharon Myers on 12/5/2014
    Overall Rating

After reading the great reviews about these gloves, I decided to give them a try. They were too narrow in both palm and finger width for me. Fingers were a little too long. They were definitely well made, but just didn't fit my hand shape. Returned them and ordered the Heat 5 mm glove instead.

  9. Better than other 5mm gloves review by Gregg on 6/13/2014
    Overall Rating

Have a pair of mares and bare 5mm gloves. Wore these in 40 degree water for two 40 min Dives. Hands were a little chilly but was still able to function. Dexterity and grip is better than gloves above. Do not interfere with wrist seals on drysuit. Only down part is trying to get them on when wet but that is a problem with any wet glove.

  10. fourth element semi dry gloves review by David on 4/22/2014
    Overall Rating

first time trying gloves in 39 degree water. they didn't cut it. hands were cold and lost dexterity. This gloves are very similar to XS scuba dry-five. I would give them 5 stars for temps to about 46-48, but anything below you need dry gloves. Now my hands get cold easily so keep that in mind. overall these gloves are very well made and great gripping.

  11. Best Wet Gloves review by Dante on 2/20/2014
    Overall Rating

For wet gloves it doesn't get any better than this. Unlike most gloves, Fourth Element's have glued seams, so very little water gets in. They can be difficult to get on, but once they're on the warmth makes it more than worth it.

  12. Great Glove review by Nick on 12/4/2013
    Overall Rating

These gloves are warm and the flexibility is great. They are a little difficult to get on due to the longer cuff but are worth the hassle.

  13. review by Christopher Dengler on 9/23/2013

So far, I did a few dives with these is 50 degree water. They are probably even warmer than my dry gloves. Very little water flushing. The dexterity is OK, definitely better than other gloves, but not perfect. All in al pretty awesome.

  14. review by Zach Rogers on 6/5/2013

These are warm and still allow functional use of my hands down to 45 degrees. Unfortunately I lost one of them after the first few uses but I have replaced it. As always, great quick service from DRIS.

I originally ordered these 5mm gloves, but after speaking with Debbie I opted for the 3mm version as I wear them under my glove lock dry glove system. I dove them this weekend and have to say I LOVE THEM! I have been diving the G1 gloves and these are also GREAT! Another Happy customer here!

  16. review by Christopher Kovacs on 3/18/2013

Excellent purchase. Gloves fit "like a glove" and are extremely warm. Service with DRIS was excellent and got great assistance when deciding on which gloves to buy from the staff. Very pleased!!

  17. review by Jerome Martin on 5/4/2012
    Overall Rating

Excellent both for warmth and grip, by far the best non-dry gloves I owned. However, when using with a drysuit for those dives when dry gloves are overkill, I wish the part that goes up the sleeve would be shorter. But the long and tight sleeve also contributes to makes these gloves warm, so this seems to be an acceptable tradeoff. Just don't expect the gloves to be of the short length, flush with the wrist/hand line type.

  18. review by John Neville on 4/18/2011
    Overall Rating

I purchased these gloves to go with my White's fusion dry suit. I can say they are the warmest gloves I have owned. I had them in 50 degree water last weekend with no problems what so ever.
They are very tight and can be a bit of a struggle to put on, but in turn they do offer better dexterity than the other 5m gloves I have worn. Also they have a long cuff that gets bunched up around my dry suit wrist seal (the fusion has the wrist seal and then the outer cuff which limits the length of the glove that can go there). Not a big deal to me, they are still tight enough so water doesn't constantly flow in and out but it may bother some people. Overall a good purchase.

  19. review by Evan Coppola on 1/17/2011
    Overall Rating

I like these more and more with each dive. Doing a lot of cooler water lake dives this time of year (around 50 degrees). These were very tight the first few dives but seem to be breaking in a little. The neoprene is very elastic so dexterity is excellent. My fingers were very cold on the first dive a few weeks ago and I think it was because the gloves were a little too tight and may have been cutting off a bit of circulation to the fingers. Now that I have put a few dives on them, my fingers are nice and warm. If I had it to do over again, I might go a size larger, but those might not be as warm and might also sacrifice some dexterity so it's a guess. Overall, Fourth Element makes great stuff and these are great gloves for those of us who dislike the bulk and loss of feel that normally comes along with warm gloves.

  20. review by Troy Hop on 12/3/2010
    Overall Rating

These gloves are some of the warmest wet gloves that I have used yet in 39 degree water for 45 minute dives they continue to keep your hands warm. They are very similar to the warmth of the XS Scuba Dry Fives, but with a lot greater dexterity. The only negative thing that I would have to say about them is that they are not a durable as some of the other gloves that I have used it the past, however even with small holes they are still extremely warm! I would recommend these gloves to anyone who gets cold hands.
Thanks again to DRIS for top notch costumer service as they were not able to get the gloves that I originally ordered but worked with me to receive these gloves before a dive trip to the Straights. Also Want to thank DRIS for supporting the Grand Rapids Scuba Club!

  21. review by Gary Jacks on 8/14/2010

I recently purchased the 4th Element 5mm Semi Dry Gloves, as always DRIS was a pleasure to do business with, product as described and quick shipping.

This glove works very well, it does not let much water in and is very flexible and easy to use. It is a little tough to get on and off when wet. I have not had it in very cold water yet, but in 70 degree water it kept my hands very warm, and I believe it will preform well in colder water.

  22. review by James Vaughn on 8/12/2010
    Overall Rating

Kept my hands very warm even in 38 degree water, a little tight to get on. But thats just the price of warmth. Consider ordering a size higher than normal gloves or be prepared for a fight to get them off and on. Overall very happy with them despite the spiderman feel of them. ;)

  23. review by Jeremy Menear on 8/2/2010
    Overall Rating

These gloves are by far the best gloves I have ever used while diving in cold water. they are very warm and allow a great deal of dexterity once you have them on. These gloves are pretty tight so be mindful of that when you select your size, however the fit aides in the semi dry nature of the glove.

I bought a Large and they are tight but manageable to get on, once on all is great. I may buy a set of XL just to check the difference but will keep both pairs if I do.

Once again Dive Right In Scuba has managed to keep stock of the best and latest gear on the market, with the fastest possible shipping times.

If you size this glove right, you can't go wrong.

  24. review by Andres Cuevas on 7/26/2010
    Overall Rating

I own the 5mm and the 3mm version, the 5 mm version is incredible warm and allow a lot of movement compared with any 5mm gloves. They are more restricted than the 3mm but are better for colder waters.
They are also warmer than other 5mm gloves I have used in the past.

  25. review by Bob Dankert on 7/12/2010
    Overall Rating

I have tried these gloves on a few dives and taken them to 120' at 39 degrees. The construction of these gloves is excellent. At 39 degrees they may have been able to keep me warm, but with the compression of the neoprene my finger did get quite cold (expected with a 5mm glove at that depth and temperature).

My only complaint would be the sizing. The glove is not very stretchy and these are on the smaller size for a XL glove and I have a hard time getting my hands in the glove. Also, I've found my hands go numb when I wear these gloves from them being so tight. Sadly I will be giving these to someone else who has slightly smaller hands than myself. If these were a bit larger gloves I would be very happy with them.

  26. review by Larry Malato on 6/18/2010
    Overall Rating

This is a very warm glove for the weight. It offers good flexibility and dexterity while being warmer than any other wet gloves that we have tried. It seems to be consistent with the Fourth Element high standard of quality that we have experienced in their dry suit underwear. It is a futuristic looking glove and interfaces well with both dry and wet suits. Once again I am pleased with DRIS service, responsiveness and quality inventory. Keep stocking all these cool things.

  27. review by Steven Strohmeier on 6/1/2010
    Overall Rating

For three years I've struggled to find a wet or dry glove that would keep my hands warm. I dive mostly cold water below 50 degrees, and at least once a year go ice diving. So, I've tried most of the gloves currently on the market, but none have performed as well as the marketing said they would.

On Mike at DRIS's recommendation I gave these gloves a try. I was very, very skeptical about spending nearly 60 bucks on yet another pair of gloves. Mike assured me they would work -- well, he was right. I've put about 15 dives on them in the last three weeks in water ranging from 38-50 degrees, and had them down to 130 feet in 40 degree Lake Michigan water. The shortest dive was 30 minutes. They have kept my hands very warm -- in fact, I prefer them to all but one set of my dry gloves.

The real bonus is the dexterity. Other gloves make it nearly impossible for me to easily work valves or clips. With these gloves, its almost like wearing reef gloves. They are also pretty easy to don when they are wet. A real plus if you've ever broke into a sweat trying to wrestle into most 5 mil gloves for a second or third dive.

  28. review by MATT TULLER on 5/26/2010
    Overall Rating

I dive in Monterey, CA, where the water is typically around 50 degrees. These replaced my cheaper pinnacle 5MM gloves that would leave my hands frozen after every dive. These gloves work great even in sub-50 degree weather, and they feel more like you are wearing 7MM gloves due to their superior construction and stitching. A great cold water glove that is durable and built to last.

I'm trying to find a good glove for cold weather for underwater repair work. Would these be able to last doing work like that sand blasting and other types of repair work? The last pair I bought lasted one day and my hands also froze.

60/120-Day Return Policy

Hassle Free Returns

At Dive Right In Scuba, we are happy to extend our hassle free return policy to our customers: a 60/120-day Satisfaction Guarantee on ALL of our merchandise.

    • If it is within 60 days and the items are in new condition with original packaging, there is a 100% credit or refund* on any item.
    • If its within 30 days and the item is used, feel free to send it back and get a full 100% credit towards new equipment!  Thats right, you can send it back and get something different.  What do we do with these returns?  We have a used section on our website that we sell these at a discounted price!  * DRIS can, at our discretion, change this policy depending on the condition of the return.  Meaning, if you beat it up within 30 days and want to return it, you will NOT get a full refund.
    • If it is within 60 days and the items are used, or are not returned with the original packaging, it's not a problem, we will provide you with Loyalty Points for 75% of your products purchase price, that can be used to purchase any other product we sell at Dive Right In Scuba*. * This can be changed at our discretion based on how used or damaged a product is*
    • If it is between 60 - 120 days and the items are in new condition, we will provide you with Loyalty Points for 100% of your products purchase price, that can be used to purchase any product we sell at Dive Right In Scuba
    • You never need to contact us for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) –Simply return your product to us with the RMA Form, To ensure that your return/exchange is handled in a speedy manner, always include a copy of your receipt. We do recommend calling with any issues to see what the best course of action is, its not always to just send back….so just give us a call and lets figure out the best response!
    • If you have bought an item and it needs to be returned, your original shipping charges are non refundable.
    • Shipping charges are NOT refundable.  If you received Free Shipping on your order, and return it, the charges for the shipping will come out of your refund.  Shipping is inlcuded if you keep the product, a return voids the free shipping.
  • * Certain Items may incure a 10% re-stocking fee(can be higher dependings on custom options or special order).  High dollar items may have a re-stocking fee which covers transaction and shipping charges.  If it is an exchange, there might not re-stocking fee depending on the situation.  We are people too, so we try to make sure it works for everyone depending on what is going on.
  • * Custom items do not qualify for a full refund.  If an item doesn't fit, we will do everything to make sure you get a proper fit.  But, on custom items, there can't always be a 100% refund, due to the custom nature of the item.

To return an item, just follow the simple directions below and we’ll take care of the rest!

    1. Pack the item(s) securely. All returned products should be in the condition they were received in, as well as in their original packaging. Please remember to include all warranty cards and manuals.
    2. Please include the RMA Form with a copy of your receipt.
    3. Send your package via UPS, FedEx or insured Parcel Post. (Please note that shipping charges cannot be refunded.) We recommend shipping ALL products back with an Insured Carrier with tracking numbers. This is the only way to track the product to ensure we receive it. Dive Right In Scuba is not responsible for lost or stolen packages due to Shipping Carriers.

In the event of any questions or problems with your order, or if the product received was defective or damaged, please contact our Customer Service Department within 60 days of receipt. We will make every effort to resolve the problem as quickly as possible. Customer Service can be reached at 1-815-267-8400 Monday through Friday 11 am - 9 pm Central Time or by emailing us at info@diverightinscuba.com.
