Founded in 2006 by Rod and Mike Pedersen, Dive Right In Scuba is a family-owned scuba retailer and training center—not a chain. We are a community of passionate divers dedicated to providing exceptional service, top-notch gear, and expert instruction.
Headquartered in Plainfield, Illinois, with a second retail and training location in Orland Park (which features a heated 90°F training pool), we are proud to serve the Chicago metro area, Northern Illinois, and divers worldwide.
Whether you're a seasoned pro, a technical diver, or just getting your fins wet, our knowledgeable staff is here to guide your journey. We are recognized authorities in several core specialties:
- Cold-Water & Great Lakes Diving: We specialize in purpose-built gear for divers exploring Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes. From custom-fit drysuits to heated undergarments, we understand cold-water exposure protection.
- In-House Drysuit & Regulator Repair: We operate one of the only full-service drysuit repair facilities in the United States. We service all major drysuit brands (including DUI, Santi, Waterproof, Bare, and Scubaforce) and back our work with an industry-first warranty. We also offer comprehensive regulator service, including our "Free Regulator Service for 5 Years" program on qualifying purchases.
- World-Class Scuba Training: We are a proud PADI 5 Star Career Development Center and an SDI/TDI 5 Star Facility (named the 2011 SDI/TDI Facility of the Year). With approximately 23 PADI instructors on staff, we teach everything from Discover Scuba and Open Water to the full TDI technical, cave, and rebreather curriculum.
- Recreational & Technical Equipment: We are a full-line retailer with deep inventory in regulators, BCDs, dive computers, and tech-diving gear (sidemount, doubles, and rebreather support). We partner with leading brands like Shearwater, Dive Rite, Scubapro, Hollis, and Divesoft.
