Submited By: Eunice P. on 07/06/2010 I own two of this computers and couldn't be happier.
The first one performed very well, I bought a second one for back-up.
What's great about this computer is the wide screen (obviously it's selling point). The simple two button control (very easy enough to operate). And the fact that it's hooked up to your tank reading actual air / nitrox levels but it can be disconnected after the dive so it goes with you wherever.
Oceanic has one of the best when it comes to customer support, on top of their already great line of items.
One thing I didn't like is the angle of the compass. Even with the "easy view" window that's supposed to help you look at the compass while being able to read the depth from the computer, it just simply doesn't work. The angle that you can view the window properly makes it impossible for the compass to move around, it's essentially stuck and bumping at the corners when you attempt to do it.
One more failing point for me is the horrifyingly expensive QD hose. The first one I owned didn't have QD, so I had to buy it for $100, just for a hose mind you, shipping was extra.
Resale value of this is $350 at the most. So if you plan on buying one new, take this into consideration. It does come with 1 year warranty, but after that, you pay for service and repairs. If you get one for $300 and break it, Oceanic will replace it for $150 and warranty that unit for 1 year. So essentially you can buy a 'new' one for $450. I don't recommend this, but this might be an option especially during this tough economic times.
With regards to what I just said, Dive Right In Scuba's prices are very competitive. They even have the 150% Guarantee, so you know you're getting the lowest prices anywhere. It's very easy to purchase, click, click, click and you're done.
