The high intensity Mini Q40 eLED features a twin-element projection optics system which creates a medium beam underwater for excellent close-up viewing of marine life. I have had the chance to dive with this light for several dives now and I am quite impressed with the brightness for its size. I am using it for lighting up crevices and under rocks during daytime dives. This small light can really bring out the color of underwater life. The mask strap thing isn't very handy and I removed it because it didn't really seem to feel right. Perhaps it would take some getting used to. The spot for a lanyard is located up at the top of the handle, which at first seemed stupid, but after diving for a while with it attached to a retractor, it actually became a useful feature. It is held closer to the body and doesn't dangle as much because of where it is attached.

this light is great for the recreational night dive. bright enough to be used as a primary or a good backup. the beam is fairly wide and has a lot of spill but cuts nicely through clear water. Compared to the princeton techs of similar price in my experience this out shines them. it also has a nice white/blue color which i liked. the mask strap was pretty uncomfortable but worked. I just bought another one for my girlfriend and she likes it as well.

For the price, its a decent backup light. Not bright enough to consider using as a primary for me (I dive in the cold/green waters of the Puget Sound). Its annoying the light has no mounting point at the but of the handle. Its also a bit of a pain to swap batteries. The light is bright for its size, but other lights that don't suffer the same issues I mentioned can be found for the same price. The mask straps are just a gimmick, and I'd recommend you not using them. They will increase the likely hood of getting your mask snagged/removed and you will end up blinding all of your buddies.
