Submited By: Rob Z. on 02/23/2010 The gold standard of tech backup lights! Simple and robust design, redundant o-rings, thick body, solid bolt snap tie hole, these inspire confidence. Large enough to hold comfortably, enough battery capacity to provide many hours of light and make you confident that the batteries will be in fine shape if you ever need it. Small enough to stay tucked in and and out of way on your harness arm straps. Not sure if Light Monkey is using the newer brighter UK LED modules yet, either way they are nicely focused for signalling and sufficiently bright top make a nice exit or even use as a primary on casual dives.
Designed for cave diving, might be a bit excessive for wreck diving but what tech diver doesn't love excess!? Definitely overkill for a recreational diver, you can get a brighter, smaller light for cheaper, but thats not the target market.
Nice thing about these lights sharing the same head with many other brands (UK, Halcyon, Heser, etc) is that there is a large aftermarket for brighter LEDs in the future, making cheap upgrades from either UK or 3rd parties to modern technology possible.
