A must for cold water divers!! As always, I did a litttle research. The crew at Dive Right always provides me with any info I require. This item was first suggested to me by a master instructor, many conversations later I figured what the heck.
I this point I have purchased not one but four of these inline shut off valves. Some people disagree on the benefits however up here in Canada we drive 2 hours to the dive spot and two hours back. Having your dive cut short due to a free flows and frozen iced up regs is less than desirable. The gas for my car and the tank fill wasted due to a free flow easily covers the cost of one of these babies.
The valve has saved several ice diving trips this past season. I highly recomend if you dive in any sort of colder weather to install one. I have also purchased my HOG D1 cold water stages from Dive Right Scuba and have installed the inline valves. I have not yet been forced to use the valves with my HOG regulars but wanted to be safe rather than sorry.
