When I set up my recent set of gear I wanted to get away from the separate Octo and the hose that always seems to get in the way or caught on something. It seems you can never keep the Octo in it's keeper and it gets bumped out and floats around getting in the way at the worst time.


Also, other than training, how many times have you really had to use the Octo? That was also part of my thought process. I looked at several secondary air options but the inflator option seemed the best for me. It eliminates the Octo, the Octo hose and the Octo clip. It also simplifies your inflator system too.

The Atomic brand of regulators are great regs and the SS1 is no exception. It breaths smooth and depth and does not free flow while diving. The buttons are large easy to find. The bright colors availabe make it easy for your buddy to find also should the need arise.

I enjoy having an excellent regulator as my backup since I will be giving away my primary to my buddy in an OOA situation. I get great peace of mind knowing I have a great regulator waiting for me.
