Whereas in competitors’ products the computer is simply a passive receiver of
information, with the new Mares bidirectional technology, Icon HD is able to communicate
actively with the tank module for an increased level of safety and user friendliness. For
instance, it is known that hoseless computers can be disturbed by the magnetic field
generated by photography strobes, with the result that no tank data is shown on the
computer for up to a few minutes. Icon HD responds to such a disruption by interrogating
the tank module and asking it to resubmit the pressure information.
Furthermore, the implementation of tank information brings the high definition color
display of Icon HD to shine brighter than ever. In addition to detailed numerical
information on tank pressure, time to reserve (TTR) and breathing rate in l/min, Icon HD
couples the tank pressure with a color-coded background. This allows for immediate and
intuitive at-a-glance interpretation of tank status. Add to this the customization of the
levels which trigger the switch between colors and you have the perfect dive companion.
And if your buddy uses an Icon HD as well, a quick glance at the color will let you know
whether it is time to turn around, start the ascent or just keep on going, without the need
