Submited By: Jim P. on 02/08/2011 I've had this regulator for 3 or 4 years to date, and I absolutely love it! Both stages are tough--the first stage has been banged around in wrecks, while the second has been dropped (oops!) more than once. Yet they still work like the day I bought them.
The 1st stage DAD balancing system is a little bit weird at first sight, with the schrader valve, but it actually works quite well. I've removed rust particles from wrecks from all over the outside of the 1st, but nothing ever got in.
The 2nd stage body seems a little bit smaller than say, the Hog D2 or the Zeagle ZX. Breathing resistance is not affected by this, however. I actually like the size--when I switch to a different 2nd, I am usually shocked by how much bigger it feels!
Performance-wise, this setup is great. I've had it in 40 degree water with no problems, it's been to 140 feet and breathed great, it's even seen it's fair share of wrecks.
All in all, I have been really happy with the GS2000/DAD combination. It's stood up to semi-extreme environments, as well as taking the daily beating that an instructor's reg gets, and it still works.
