Back in September 2008 I began my fusion life with a tech skin fusion. I dove that skin until Summer 2009 when DRIS sent me my Tech LE skin - you can see my review on that skin - I liked it better than the regular tech skin - I added pockets and was happy. I recently upgraded once again to the Bullet skin with the new pockets. Once again, Whites has improved on an already superior product by listening to their customers and making improvements that simply make sense! Skin installation is typical - nothing abnormal here - WATCH THE INSTALLATION VIDEO on the Whites website and you will get it - it's not hard to do - even alone (but is easier with help). So, how does this compare to the LE skin? Gator tech neoprene: - Neat stuff - seems more permeable and tougher than the typical 1mm neoprene of the LE skin. The elbow and knee pads are certainly superior to any other skin that Whites has produced. There are even pockets on the interior for padding inserts should you require such. New zip pockets: - Far and away superior to previous pockets. The zip sides make them less 'saggy' and they are simply put together better. No grommets on these - just interior plastic D-ring to attach lanyards, etc to. Same drain design which worked well on the old pockets - overall a great improvement. Adding to that improvement is the 'tacky' interior of the pocket area of the skin. This section clings to the dry core and prevents much, if not all of the sag experienced in the previous pockets. There is also a velcro area inside that you can attach to the dry core if you so desire to further eliminate sag. (I have not done this - doesn't seem necessary). Overall feel and 'diveability': - A very similar experience to the LE skin while diving. I really like the color options on this skin - I have the blue and it's darned nice ;) - No loss of flexibility, I do feel like this skin will hold up even better in all conditions - durability has not been an issue with the fusion, but this one is certainly the best of the best. Overall I like the upgrade - If I had it all to do over again, and was buying a fusion for the first time - I would be getting the bullet skin version right off the bat! Thank you to Whites for listening and continuing to make improvements. Don't forget that the guys at Dive Right in Scuba know almost as much about these suits as the guys at Whites and can assist with nearly any issue! Very highly recommended by DM Jim

Background: I've been diving fusion drysuit with the tech le skin since early July of last year and dove the le until this past weekend. Changing out the skins: Actually not too bad once you get the exhaust and inflate valves off the old skin. It took some effort to get them loosened up though (I don't own the special SiTech tool). I was unclear from the Internets whether the new skin would have both holes pre punched, I can confirm that both the exhaust and inflate holes have been factory punched into the skin so no need to worry about cutting holes in your new purchase. Getting the Velcro seated takes a little while especially around the zipper though. Pockets: I picked up the skin with the factory pockets pre-installed. They are much nicer than the ones on the tech le skin with full "gator skin" construction. I suspect that the Velcro around the pockets will wear better than the old le skin's did. Size is a little bigger as well and there's no iron (rusty) grommets on these although I do like the grommets on the old ones and wish they would have went with stainless grommets for the new ones. On the back of the skin is a grippy section of thin neoprene that does seem to hold the pockets when on land in place a little better (no more of that gangster pocket sag during the surface interval). How does it dive: It felt pretty much the same to me during the dives. Perhaps a little more compression (keeping air pockets smaller) from the skin against the drycore which felt good. Same excellent mobility, seemed to swim the same I didn't notice any extra drag. It has better neoprene coverage around the neck seal area and there was less bare latex exposed when compared to the old skin. I left the padding in the knees but took out the padding in the arms. Graphics are really nice and subtle. Honestly after the skin gets changed out it feels (and at least on the exterior) looks like a brand new suit.
