I would buy this only if you are required to have it for your open water course. It's easier to use than dive tables, but not hugely easier and you can't use it underwater. If you're going to buy something electronic just spend a little more and buy a compter; you'll never use the erdpml again if you're recc diving, and if you're tech diving you'll need actual dive tables anyway.
