Submited By: Matt C. on 05/18/2009 Verified Buyer Keep in mind this is my first can light.
I bought this light because it's a can light, and it has the ability to switch to a handheld easily. Another plus is that it uses easily available "C" cell batteries.
The light as a whole is really solid. Both parts seem really rugged, and will stand up to some abuse. The LED head has a good bit of weight (I'm assuming) due to the electronics. The beam is pretty bright and does a good job cutting through the darkness. The hotspot is tight so that it doesn't light up all the silt in front of you, while the area outside of the hotspot illuminates things nicely without being totally reflected by silt. I have not had a chance to run the light to find out how true the full power burn time is. There are a few gripes about this light though, part of this is because I don't have a backplate + wings though. The cable is extremely long--seems like almost 4'! I'm told that once I switch to a backplate + wings, this won't be an issue. The other gripe I have about this light is that the LED head is a PITA to twist with wet gloves. I currently store the body in my drysuit pocket or my BCD pocket and twist the LED to turn it on. The top part of the body is covered with rubber and is easily grab a hold of, even with thick, wet gloves. The lower part of the body is also easily grab as well.
FYI: If you get the goodman mount, it will only attach to the can converter on the LED head.
All in all, this is a good light IMO.
